The Guadeloupe archipelago: Marie-Galante, Les Saintes, La Désirade
Guadeloupe is an archipelago. Its "mainland" (Grande-Terre and Basse-Terre) is surrounded by several islands, each with its own charm and character: La Désirade (at the far east of the island), Les Saintes (south of Grande-Terre) and Marie-Galante (south of Basse-Terre). Daily boat transfers run from the ports of Pointe-à-Pitre, Trois-Rivières, Basse-Terre and Saint-François. Several tour operators also offer a tailor-made crossing, for example under sail.
